12/19/73 is absolutely the hands-down best. The second jam, especially Jerry's astonishing playing, is some of the most inspired Grateful Dead you ever hear. I love Bobby's amazing little riff leading up to the second verses - perfection.

12/6/73 is the longest and also one of the very best. It used to be my favorite until I discovered 12/19.

And of course 11/14/73 as you mentioned is really, really awesome, a little sloppy but easily redeemed by some more killer Jerry jams.

Here's a few of my other random favorites:

2/15/73
3/21/73
6/22/73
9/7/73
10/30/73
11/17/73
2/23/74

eeehhh not so sure anymore...a year or two ago I would have agreed...but since then I've kind of wore this one out b/c i couldn't get enough of it at one point. I now think 12/19 is the very best, and 12/6 is a close second. As always it's all pretty subjective in the end.

Much thanks for all the suggestions as well as the link to that past thread. I need to learn to search better. And 12-19 is just perfect. Exactly what I was looking for.

Hold up, had you never heard DP 1's HCS? 12-19-73?!?! Cuz if you liked HCS jams and then just found that, wow. I bet it feels amazing. But yea I've never heard another HCS that comes close to 12-19's intensity and perfection

For me I think my top 3 are
12-19
11-09
12-06

but they're like the only 3 i know of lmao.

I recently went through 73 to check out each HCS, and notice how each month the song keeps getting longer and long. 12-19-73 is also my fav, if not for the amazing sound quality but also the excellent jam.

wisco you gotta here 11-14-73!!! Like I said it's not a perfect version but Jerry's solo during the second jam will blow you way. If you've got some time today check it out; the rest of the show is awesome too.

No problem. One easy way to find threads like this is to just do a google search, something like: 'internet archive: best here comes sunshine' and something should pop up. A little tip I picked up from an earlier thread on here.

Sorry I can't be of help with the '90s versions. I'm not really very familiar with later-era Dead and I don't think I've ever even listened to a '90s HCSS all the way through, lol.

If you want to get really fancy, you do it like this:

("best here comes sunshine" site:archive.org) I'd say try it in quotes first, then w/o quotes.

Here's what it looks like

As you can see it also searches for comments in the show reviews.

The onliest problem with searching the archive forum is that, even if you find what you are looking for, you can't bump the thread to the first page and get your questions answered. I HATE that!

Edit: Oh, you got me curious, so I decided to try to use my search muscle to see if I could search google to find all HCS from 1973.

Now, if only I could figure out how to narrow it down to just shows instead of the other stuff that pops up...

Narrowing down HCS to 1973

Now, I'm sure someone will come along and show a much easier way of doing this :D
